No place left for the "dangerous criminals"

Alas the extravagant new jail that was priced at around $100,000 per bed has failed by 564 votes, and all I can say is...DUH! With all the bull that has been going down in the good old county offices can anyone really blame the folks of Bozeman for rejecting the "best offer" for the jail.

Bozeman needs a new jail, I am not going to argue about that but come on, it was price tagged at 20 million, and other counties around the state have built jails larger than the proposed Bozeman jail for way less. Jails should not be fancy, or pretty, or anything they should be jails..which in Bozeman are mainly used for DUIS anyway.

Here is a radical idea. Get a bus system for Bozeman that runs late over the weekends, I know many many people who would totally use a bus when going out on the weekends. I know I would. Or instead of a bus why not have more cabs? Right now Bozeman has two, count them two cabs on the weekdays, and two more on the weekends when MSU's Cat Cab runs. Another radical idea, stop giving public drukeness tickets to people stumbling home from the bars, nothing is more absurd than punishing people who chose not to drive when they are in less than sober conditions.

All I have left to say to the county is that people are not stupid, and you can't put something with a bad smell in front of them and expect them to eat it.
